Courses & Registration

Registration

Academic administration, including course registration, tuition and billing, and scheduling is managed through the University of Colorado Denver for all ColoradoSPH students.

Course schedules and course book

All approved Colorado School of Public Health courses are published in the school's course book. Courses are organized by department prefix and campus. Please check regularly for course location and time updates in the course schedules. In addition, please learn the MPH core course equivalencies on all three campuses prior to registering.

Spring 2025 schedule

*The University of Colorado Clinical Science program courses are open only to ColoradoSPH students enrolled in the PhD-Health Services Research program.

Adding or dropping a course

Permission to withdraw from a course after the add/drop period requires the approval of the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs. Tuition refunds for course withdrawals that occur after the add/drop deadline will only be granted in cases involving one of the following documented extenuating circumstances:

  • Unexpected illness
  • A death or crisis in the family
  • Unexpected change in work schedules

Core course schedules and equivalences

There have been some changes in which semesters the core MPH courses are offered. Students should check and plan carefully to make sure that they are able to complete all of these courses before they graduate. The table below shows the relevant courses across the three partner campuses and the semesters they are offered. These are subject to change in future years. ColoradoSPH students may take these core courses at any of the partner campuses as long as they complete at least 24 total credits at their home campus.

Waiver request

MPH students may be eligible to waive one or more of the core courses by taking and passing a comprehensive examination in the core course topic area. If the exam is passed, the number of hours required for the degree remains the same. Passing this exam allows the student to take 3 additional elective credits. Students are strongly encouraged to take another course in the same topic area. Exams will be scheduled the week prior to the start of fall semester only.
