The MicroHPE allows professionals to develop core skills needed for analyzing healthcare delivery and financing systems, developing policies to improve healthcare, and evaluating the costs and cost-effectiveness of health services and policies. Students who successfully complete the MicroHPE receive priority for admission into the MPH Program in Health Systems, Management & Policy. The 8 credits are counted toward the total of 42 credits required for the MPH degree.

Public Health and Health Care Systems
Compare the organization, structure, and function of health care, public health and regulatory systems across national and international settings
Planning and Management to Promote Health
Explain basic principles and tools of budget and resource management
Policy in Public Health
Discuss the policy-making process, including the roles of ethics and evidence
Policy in Public Health
Advocate for political, social or economic policies and programs that will improve health in diverse populations
Policy in Public Health
Evaluate policies for their impact on public health and health equity
Leadership
Apply leadership and/or management principles to address a relevant issue
Health Systems Management and Policy
Evaluate strategies for organizing, financing and delivering health services
In just two semesters, you can earn a certificate that provides specific, practical, job-related competencies without the time or cost it takes to earn a full degree. The micro certificate includes three online courses – epidemiology, biostatistics, and foundations in public health. You will walk away with skills in statistical analysis, epidemiological methods, and the key issues and problems faced by the public health system.
