The Colorado School of Public Health is excited to announce the first inaugural All School Volunteer Week! This week focuses on connecting with and giving back to our community. Events will take place throughout the week that students, staff, and faculty can participate in. The school has selected a variety of organizations throughout Colorado to address different needs within our community. As the Colorado School of Public Health has a tri-campus model, activities will be taking place around the Front Range.
To facilitate community week, we are offering two hours of paid administrative leave per faculty/staff member to allow for more participation. Information about administrative leave will be sent out after participation in the event. Any participation beyond 2 hours will be considered personal leave and must be coded as such.
The kick-off event is not considered a volunteer opportunity and will not have administrative time allotted for it.
This week focuses on connecting with our community, both internally and externally. If you cannot participate in the following events, you are encouraged to find a place in your community in which you can participate in helping. One small deed can have a large impact.
Come and join us for the kick-off event including breakfast and collaboration! We are partnering with Project Angel Heart to decorate bags that they use to deliver meals to those who must remain at home. Proper nutrition is vital, and Project Angel Heart helps ensure Denver's sick population keeps eating. These bags, once decorated, can be used to bring a smile to the faces of those in need.

November 4-14: Clothing Drive
As the seasons change, so do our wardrobes. Many folks within our community don't have the resources to effectively change their wardrobe with the weather. The Gathering Place combats systematic issues of poverty and the unhoused population within our community. Clothing that are donated will go to support "Bridget's Boutique" which provides clothing for free to those in need. Items need to be season appropriate and to best support the members, The Gathering Place prioritizes casualwear such as jeans, sweatshirts, t-shirts, and tennis shoes.

Food is a necessity for life but some folks within our community can struggle to find a reliable source of it. Food banks across the country work to provide adequate nutrition for all people. For our folks at UNC, we are partnering with the Weld Food Bank to help fight food insecurity in our local communities.

Food for Thought Denver works to ensure that all children have access to food over the weekend. Many children rely on schools to eat regularly. However, that means the weekend creates a unique problem. Food for Thought creates "Powersacks" that have enough food to feed a family of four for two meals. This volunteering opportunity will consist of packing these sacks to then be delivered to children in need.
