Andrew (Andy) Seidl, Ph.D. is professor of agricultural and resource economics and Nutrien distinguished scholar of agricultural sciences, Colorado State University. He also supports the UNDP biodiversity finance initiative (BIOFIN) as senior technical advisor in the global team and regional technical lead for the Pacific. Andy’s work focuses on natural resource-based economic development, biodiversity finance, the economics of land degradation and restoration, and private lands conservation policy. Andy is faculty in the Colorado school of public health and the CSU school of global environmental sustainability (SOGES). He serves on the steering committee for the economics of land degradation (ELD) initiative and on the world convention on protected areas (WCPA) conservation finance and world heritage experts’ groups. Previously, Seidl was head, global economics programme, International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), Switzerland, natural resource economist, Brazilian Center for Agricultural Research in the Pantanal (CPAP-EMBRAPA), Brazil, and commodity analyst, UN-FAO, Italy. Andy holds a BA in international relations and economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Ph.D. in food and resource economics from the University of Florida-Gainesville, USA.
