Data Use Guidelines

Use and protection of prospective student data

The Colorado School of Public Health as well as the universities that comprise our school—the University of Colorado (our accrediting institution), Colorado State University, and the University of Northern Colorado—collect certain information about visitors to our website, users who view and interact with our digital advertisements and social media pages, and users who request additional information from us through our request for information forms, information session forms, and other prospective student event forms.

Your privacy

In addition to the guidelines about information use outlined below, the University of Colorado online privacy policy applies to the data we collect. Please review the privacy policy in addition to the information below.

Important note: The following guidelines do not apply to application data submitted through SOPHAS. We retain application data in the SOPHAS platform to be able to communicate with prospective students regarding their application.

What information we collect

We collect information you provide to us through our request for information form and other prospective student event forms including but not limited to:

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • Your program of interest
  • How you heard about our school

Through our third-party marketing platform, ActiveCampaign, we also collect information about your web browser, device, and date of form completion. Please visit the ActiveCampaign website to learn more about their data privacy practices.

How we use your information

We use the data that you provide to:

  • Share relevant information about our school, university locations, programs, and application process with you,
  • Customize and tailor the information we send you to about our programs,
  • Evaluate and improve our marketing strategies,
  • Better understand our target audiences,
  • And cross-compare with our admissions status data to understand who has expressed interest in our school and if those interested chose to apply and enroll.

Data retention

We retain marketing-related data to better track our recruitment and engagement efforts over time. Identifiable information such as your name, email address, and customer ID will be retained only for a period deemed necessary for business functions in accordance with our records retention policy. 

Opt-out and data deletion

Prospective students may opt-out from our marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of our emails. You may also email us to let us know that you would like to unsubscribe from our emails by emailing us at You may also request that we delete all data associated with your record in our marketing system, ActiveCampaign, at any time by emailing us at
