Dr. Roell is a data scientist and mapping specialist who completed his PhD from Aarhus University in Denmark. After specializing in large scale mapping using machine learning and spatial statistics, he decided to focus his attention on becoming a data scientist. He moved to Denver and attended an intensive data science program to be able to build workflows using various programming languages. Since joining the Center for Global Health in 2021, he has helped strengthen the programming capabilities and mapping components of many projects. Dr. Roell teaches R and helps students/staff with programming for their respective projects. His focus is on getting more mapping components into global health projects and automating different aspects of analyses to allow more time to be focused on the results and less on the gathering, cleaning, and processing of data.
