Betsy Barron (Chickasaw/Choctaw) is a Program Manager at the Suicide Prevention Resource Center. After completing her Master of Public Health at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center (OUHSC) in Health Promotion Sciences, she worked at the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS) as a Prevention Program Field Representative. During her time at ODMHSAS, she conducted opioid overdose prevention and naloxone trainings to communities across Oklahoma. She then spent two years completing her Doctorate of Public Health coursework in Community and Behavioral Health at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Center (CU Anschutz), and she hopes to complete her dissertation in 2026. During her time at CU Anschutz, she worked as a consultant for the Tribal Self Governance Advisory Committee, tracking legislation relevant to the Affordable Care Act and Indian Health Care Improvement Act, along with providing technical assistance to Tribes. Betsy is passionate about Tribal health policy and Tribal mental health, particularly suicide prevention and overdose prevention. In her free time, she likes to sing, read, play video games, and play with her three dogs alongside her husband, Julio.
