Sam MaWhinney serves as the Associate Dean for Faculty and has been a professor of biostatistics and informatics in the Colorado School of Public Health since 2010. Sam was an associate professor of preventive medicine and biometrics (before the department became ColoradoSPH) from 2001 to 2010, as well as assistant professor from 1994 to 2001. Sam has been a faculty member in the school for more than 25 years now. Over those years, Sam has served a combined 14 years on the school’s Appointment, Promotion and Tenure Committee (2008-2018), and as chair of the B&I department’s APT Committee (2018-present). Sam is passionate about mentoring junior faculty with a goal of educating and improving research and career trajectories and has a proven record of supporting publications with mentee first authors and of guiding successful K-award applications.
