Julia is collaborating with CGH on educational courses for campus learners, including medical students, residents, and fellows, to prepare and equip participants for global health activities. These courses are also open to faculty and medical professionals outside the University. The primary focus of her work has been a longitudinal prospective trauma outcomes project in the Western Cape, South Africa. This project assesses the impact of time and critical interventions on trauma outcomes. Findings and results from this project have informed local trauma protocols and system development. Additionally, she has been working with the Ministry of Health in Zambia and the Emergency Medicine Society of Zambia to implement and evaluate the WHO Emergency Care Toolkit at eight government hospitals. They are currently in the analysis phase of the project.
