CU Anschutz has secured its own limited supply of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine. The university has begun scheduling vaccination appointments at the on-campus point of distribution for CU Anschutz employees and students not previously invited to schedule an appointment through our campus hospital partners. Appointments are first come, first served.
At this time, all CU Anschutz faculty, staff, and current students have been invited by email to schedule COVID-19 vaccine appointments. Depending on the phase in which you became eligible, you should have received an invitation to schedule through UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital, Children's Hospital Colorado, or the university itself. If you are a CU Anschutz employee or student in need of a vaccine appointment and have not received an email invitation, please contact adminexceptions@cuanschutz.edu for assistance.
On Monday, March 29, Governor Polis announced that the state will move into phase 2 of vaccine distribution on Friday, April 2, 2021. All Coloradans 16 and older will be eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine during phase 2.
Campus safety protocols remain in place for everyone, including those who are fully vaccinated.
As Colorado makes progress on the COVID-19 vaccination effort, the state has expanded Phase 1 of the State of Colorado’s vaccine distribution plan, which is now open through Phase 1B.4.
Coloradans age 50 and older, individuals ages 16 to 49 with one high-risk condition, and frontline essential workers in areas including public health, human services, journalism, transportation and food service, became eligible in Phase 1B.4 on March 19. Those eligible in previously opened Phases 1A, 1B.1, 1B.2 and 1B.3 remain eligible.
We continue to work closely with CDPHE, Tri-County Health Department and our hospital partners to ensure employees and students are in the appropriate phases as the state receives vaccine doses and distributes them to vaccine points of distribution around Colorado. The university does not have its own doses at this time.
As you become eligible for vaccination per the state’s plan, you may be contacted by the university or one of our hospital partners via email. You are encouraged to get the vaccine at your first opportunity to do so, whether through one of our hospital partners or another provider.

CU Anschutz employees and students (including all ColoradoSPH students), as well as members of their households, have access to free COVID-19 testing. Learn more about these options and how to get tested on the CU Anschutz coronavirus website.
Review the CDPHE's testing information. Anyone with symptoms should get tested, stay away from others, and follow the instructions on how to isolate. Find a community testing site.

If you are able to do so, stay home as much as possible and avoid public places. This recommendation is especially important for those who are at higher risk such as older adults and those with chronic health conditions. You should keep 6 feet or more between you and another person to reduce community spread, even if you’re young and healthy.
Social distancing remains important. For more information, review the latest guidance on the CDPHE website. Coloradans should also review local guidance from their local health department and city government.
Wear a mask when around others who are not in your household and in public settings. This is especially important when it's difficult to maintain social distancing.

Wash your hands with soap and water frequently for 20
seconds or longer. Sing the happy birthday song twice to make sure
you’re washing long enough. Get all the nooks and crannies by washing in
between your fingers, under your fingernails, and the
front and back of your hands.
Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue and immediately throw the tissue into the trash. If you do not have a tissue on hand, cough or sneeze into your elbow.

Social distancing is keeping distance between yourself and others. The CDC recommends keeping 6 feet between you and other people, avoiding group gatherings, and limiting travel. For the latest recommendations and additional information, please visit the CDC website.
Social distancing helps reduce community spread of the virus. Not only does COVID-19 pose an immediate threat to the health of individuals, particularly those in high-risk groups, it also threatens to overburden our healthcare system.
If everyone, including young and healthy people, practices social distancing, it is less likely that a lot of people will fall ill at once and place a more significant strain on the healthcare system and healthcare resources. By practicing social distancing, you can help protect others, particularly those who are more vulnerable and more likely to become very ill from COVID-19.
For more information about the importance of social distancing and the impact on Colorado, please review the March 27, 2020 press release from Governor Polis as well as slides from the presentation. Dean Samet and other researchers at the Colorado School of Public Health as well as our colleagues from the University of Colorado School of Medicine and CDPHE worked together on the modeling data included in these slides.

According to guidance from CDPHE, "People should call 911 ONLY with a medical emergency. Do not call 911 if you are seeking general medical advice or wish to be tested for COVID-19. If you have COVID-19 symptoms (fever, cough, shortness of breath), consider a telehealth visit or nurseline advice before seeking in-person care." Please find more information on the CDPHE website.
