Psychosocial Stressors in the Oilfield
This free virtual summit was healed on April 12-13, 2023, and highlighted state-of-the-art knowledge on assessment and control of workers’ exposures to psychosocial stressors and health effects in the oilfield. Organized by the National Occupational Research Agenda (NORA) Oil and Gas Extraction Council. Agenda topics included advances in fatigue research, mental health and substance use in the oilfield, and NIOSH research and OSHA programmatic updates.
NORA Oil and Gas Extraction Spring Health and Safety Summit 2022
This virtual summit was held April 6–7, 2022, and was organized by the NORA Oil and Gas Extraction Council. The summit provided updates regarding state-of-the-art knowledge on occupational exposures to noise and heat stress in the upstream oil and
gas industry. Agenda topics included advances in occupational noise and heat stress exposure and control; latest NIOSH research, including on noise and ototoxic exposures, hearing protection devices and other PPE, and heat stress fatalities in the
oilfield; and OSHA regulatory updates related to noise and heat stress. Attendees included industry and government leaders, management and worker representatives, and occupational health and safety professionals working on the industry’s
upstream side.
Silica in the Oilfield 2.0
The NORA Oil and Gas Extraction Council organized the Silica in the Oilfield Summit 2.0 with support from the Center for Health, Work & Environment. This virtual event was held on April 13 and 14, 2021, and brought together over 300 representatives
from NIOSH, OSHA, and upstream oil and gas industry partners to provide state-of-the-art knowledge on the control of workers’ exposures to respirable crystalline silica in the oilfield.
