The long-term goal of the TRT is to improve worker safety and health and train future leaders who are prepared to help workers, employers, unions, and other stakeholders in the face of climate change – especially those in the most severely impacted communities. This first-of-its-kind program capitalizes on the breadth of expertise of the faculty who are eager to cross traditional disciplinary lines to find solutions.

No. The TRT is a funded training and education opportunity for DrPH and PhD students (within the scope of their academic requirements) focusing on climate and worker health.

The program is offered to students enrolled in a doctoral program at either the CU Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, CO, or Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado.

 

This program requires in-person participation and is not fully virtual.

Applications have closed for this cycle. The next cohort will begin fall 2024.

Applications open February 1, 2024, and close May 31, 2024.

All applicants must first be admitted to one of the following doctoral programs offered at the Colorado School of Public Health or Colorado State University: 

• Doctor of Public Health in Environmental and Occupational Health, Community and Behavioral Health, or Epidemiology from the ColoradoSPH
• PhD in Climate & Human Health, Biostatistics, Epidemiology or Health Services Research from the ColoradoSPH
• PhD in Environmental and Radiological Health Sciences, Psychology, Journalism and Media Communications, Mechanical Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Sociology, Statistics, and Construction Management from CSU

Graduate work of high quality done in an accredited graduate program and within the time limit may be accepted, provided it is reviewed and recommended by your program and approved by the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. Transfer credit is defined as any graduate level credit earned at another accredited institution, credits earned within the ColoradoSPH or CU system, or credits earned as a non- degree student within the CU system. This includes credit taken as part of an earned Master's degree. Core public health coursework taken as part of an MPH degree or as co-requisites required for admission into the program will not be recognized or considered for transfer.

Students accepted into the Climate and Worker Health TRT may qualify for financial support, including tuition, stipends, as well as funding for research and travel, from the MAP ERC for up to two years.
