The Mountain & Plains Education and Research Center (MAP ERC), housed in the Center for Health, Work & Environment, is one of 18 centers of its kind supported by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health. We help meet the occupational health needs of Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, and South Dakota by educating the future occupational health and safety workforce, developing partnerships, and funding pilot research

We create opportunities for graduate and post-graduate trainees to learn from accomplished faculty and other trainees in five different occupational health and safety disciplines. In addition, we offer tuition support, research funds, and stipends to qualified students. Four of the programs are located at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado, and one — occupational and environmental medicine — is located at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colorado. All of these programs offer interdisciplinary educational opportunities, such as shared classes and worksite visits, that teach students how to address real-world problems facing employers and workers.
