Funding is available for both graduate and doctoral students who are interested in injury or violence prevention. We can also help you locate the resources you need to find a scholarship or other financial aid program.
Currently Available Opportunities
Supported by the Injury and Violence Prevention Center (IVPC), the Colorado Public Health Workforce Microcredential Scholarship supports community-based public health professionals in advancing their knowledge and skills through focused, practice-oriented training at the Colorado School of Public Health (CSPH).
The scholarship covers 6 credits of tuition associated with one of the two eligible microcredentials listed below. Scholarships may only be used to enroll in ONE of the following CSPH microcredentials:
1. Epidemiology of Poverty & Social Determinants
Students will develop foundational epidemiologic skills while learning how poverty, social determinants of health, and structural inequities shape population health. Learners apply epidemiologic methods to injury and violence prevention or chronic disease prevention. Three courses; 9 credits total.
2. Poverty, Health & Social Structures
Students will develop skills to understand how social, behavioral, and policy factors influence health and health equity, and prepare to design evidence-informed interventions and advance equitable public health practice. Three courses; 7-9 credits total.
Supported by the Injury and Violence Prevention Center (IVPC), this scholarship is designed to strengthen Colorado’s public health workforce by expanding access to professional development opportunities for individuals working in community health, peer support, local public health, injury and violence prevention, overdose prevention, behavioral health, and related fields.
Applicants must hold a Bachelor's degree and meet CSPH requirements for non-degree students.
The scholarship covers 6 credits of tuition associated with one of the two eligible microcredentials. Applicants are encouraged to identify employer or partner funding that may supplement scholarship support when available.
Employer matching funds are welcomed but not required. If other funding is obtained (e.g., employer funds), scholarship support will be reduced so as not to exceed full tuition coverage.
Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis in line with the CSPH registration timeline for the microcredentials.
Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree and meet CSPH requirements for non-degree students.

Eligibility:
Any student enrolled in an accredited undergraduate, graduate, or professional school degree-granting program in the Rocky Mountain Region* is eligible to apply. (Residents, fellows, or postdoctoral students are not eligible, unless also enrolled in a degree-granting program.) Students who received a prior award from the IVPC are not eligible.
*The Rocky Mountain region includes Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming

This bi-annual award program was established in 2021; past students and their projects are featured on our website.
This scholarship is awarded to incoming or continuing students in a masters or doctoral program at the Colorado School of Public Health. Priority is given to students who: 1) demonstrate high academic potential as a student; and 2) aspire to work on the prevention of firearm injury and death (including suicide) in a federal, state, or local public health agency.
