Carolyn Diguiseppi MPH, PhD, MD

Professor

Dr. DiGuiseppi directs the Preventive Medicine Residency Program and previously served as the Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs at the Colorado School of Public Health. She also serves as Director of Evidence-Based Medicine in the School of Medicine. Before joining the faculty at the University of Colorado in 2000, she was a senior research fellow at the Institute of Child Health, University College London. As Associate Dean, Carolyn collaborated with the Faculty Senate on extensive revisions and updates to the Faculty Bylaws. She also developed the school’s professionalism statement, established a professionalism committee, and created processes for evaluation. Carolyn regularly counseled and advised numerous faculty members about their career development and trajectory, and thoughtfully launched a faculty development series for early-career faculty. Additionally, Carolyn implemented and coordinated educational sessions for all ColoradoSPH faculty to develop their teaching, research, and public health practice and leadership skills. She also led efforts to improve the recruitment of diverse faculty and worked to evaluate salary equity in the school. Prior to that, she served as a senior health policy analyst at the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) and as project director and science advisor for the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force’s Guide to Clinical Preventive Services in the US DHHS Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion. Dr. DiGuiseppi has served on a variety of federal and state advisory committees and currently serves on the editorial boards of Injury Prevention, Injury Epidemiology, and the Cochrane Injuries Review Group. She is the principal investigator for training grants from the American Cancer Society and from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to enhance the education of preventive medicine residents at the CU Anschutz Medical Campus.
