Sheila Huss is an assistant teaching professor of Criminal Justice and the Director of the Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice program at University of Colorado Denver School of Public Affairs. Sheila earned her MA in Criminology from the University of South Florida and received her PhD in Public Affairs from the University of Colorado Denver. She has taught numerous courses, including Environmental Crime and Justice; Criminological Theory; Research Methods; Introduction to Criminal Justice; Capital Punishment; Law and Society; and Public Service in Emergency Management and Homeland Security. Her research interests are primarily in social justice issues, including race, capital punishment, and environmental justice and methods. In 2010, Sheila received the International Technical Rescue Symposium Best Conference Paper Award, and in 2014 her dissertation received honorable mention for best dissertation in the School of Public Affairs at CU Denver. In 2016, she received the Outstanding Teaching Award among non-tenure track faculty in the School of Public Affairs.
