Arbovirus Research Consortium

Our mission

The overall goal of the Arbovirus Research Consortium is to assess drivers responsible for arbovirus emergence and spread. We capitalize on an exceptionally large global network of ongoing clinical research partners and blood banks. We will focus on the following areas:

  • Support for diagnostics development by collecting well-characterized biological samples from local and international sites
  • Better characterization of the interface between entomology, transmission intensity, and clinical phenotypes
  • Pathogenesis research with special consideration of immune response profiling
  • Biomarkers and treatment options, especially with regard to neurological infections
  • Preparedness research, including integrated virtual biorepositories

In addition, we aim to integrate the arbovirus research into a broader perspective of One Health/Ecohealth/Planetary Health.

The consortium will have both a local Colorado perspective (collaborating with the CDPHE and CDC DVBD) as well as a global perspective, taking advantage of opportunities at the Guatemala signature site and other partner sites in Latin America, Africa, and Asia.

Virtual Biorepository

We have created a knowledge hub that acts as a forum to gather and share information about a proposed virtual biorepository (VBR) resource. There are many opportunities to get involved, including webinars, events, and surveys. We update all information regarding these opportunities on our Virtual Biorepository website.
