Advancing health justice

We deliver innovative pedagogy, research, and policy analysis in public health ethics & public health law.

Who we are

The Public Health Ethics & Law Program (PHEAL) is a joint initiative of the Center for Bioethics and Humanities and the Colorado School of Public Health. We leverage relationships with faculty, staff, and students across the CU Anschutz Medical Campus to inform public health policy and practice in ways that maximize health justice. We also maintain an active advisory board composed of local and national members to guide our work.

What we do

We leverage interdisciplinary expertise to produce original research, teach and train population health learners at all career stages, and conduct community-oriented policy analysis to advance health equity.

PHEAL Program Director Daniel Goldberg, JD, PhD, was interviewed for the story Program Merges Bioethics and Public Health in Search of Justice, in the August 15 edition of CU Anschutz Today.
