COVID-19 health care worker study

Project overview

Health Care Workers (HCW) are an essential workforce during the COVID-19 crisis. We are involved in the epidemiological aspects of a HCW study at the two big academic hospitals at Anschutz Medical Campus (AMC). The study is coordinated by a team of scientists from AMC and linked to a Biobank Protocol and an Inpatient COVID-19 protocol. Aims are to investigate prevalence and incidence of COVID-19 in HCW, stratified by job category, age, and underlying comorbidity; and to investigate the kinetics of the immune response over time.

Funding

Support from CDPHE (PI Thomas Jaenisch, Boettcher grant (PI Elena Hsieh at CHCO), CCTSI grant (PIs Brian Montague and Eric Simoes; co-investigators Thomas Jaenisch, Steven Berman, Vijaya Knight), Support from Steve Berman’s endowment.

COVID-19 seroprevalence surveys

Project overview

The team at CGH is involved in the design as well as operational aspects of seroprevalence surveys in collaboration with the Arapahoe County Sherriff’s office and the Tri-County Health department. In a first phase, ~500 first responders are going to be tested for COVID-19 antibodies, using both a standard ELISA (Anschutz in-house test) and an experimental multiplex assay developed by Rosemary Rochford and her team in Immunology. In a second phase, the team will apply a two-stage cluster sampling design across Arapahoe County in order to conduct the seroprevalence survey on a random sub-sample of the population. In both cases (first responder as well as general population) the first round of sampling is planned for July/August and a second round for October/November, depending on the evolution of the epidemic.

CARES Act grant awarded to the Arapahoe County Sheriff's office

COVID-19 seroprevalence mapping in Colorado

map of Colorado

Project overview

The multitude of seroprevalence surveys conducted in different target populations and using different test systems asks for a harmonization in order to evaluate and display the results on a common platform. The aim of this project is to collect data from seroprevalence surveys all over Colorado and display the data on a common (map) platform, including dynamic updates over time.
