Cinnamon Dixon DO, MPH

Dr. Dixon is a board-certified pediatrician and pediatric emergency physician at Colorado Children's Hospital. She completed her pediatric residency at Children's Mercy Hospital and a pediatric emergency medicine and global health research fellowship at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, where she remained as faculty until 2014. More recently, she worked for Colorado Permanent Medical Group.   

Dr. Dixon obtained a Master of Public Health in Leadership & Policy at University of Cincinnati. She was a former intern for the World Health Organization in Geneva and a Columbia Mailman School of Public Health sidHARTe scholarship awardee, teaching and researching emergency department capacity building in Kintampo, Ghana.   

Dr. Dixon's overall research program focuses on studying global child injury/trauma and developing/testing effective interventions. She has completed work related to dog bite prevention, gaming for child safety, hospital quality improvement in low-middle income countries, trauma epidemiology in Brazil, and pediatric tobacco exposure. Her current research explores the intersection of mHealth and injury, where she has developed and tested original mobile applications and texting interventions. Dr. Dixon has presented extensively on child injury and trauma care, both nationally and internationally. She is a consultant for the World Health Organization and American Academy of Pediatrics for which she has developed normative documents, policy statements and educational courses/curricula for global child injury.
