The mHealth Impact Lab (“mHealth Impact”) was established in 2015 in the ColoradoSPH, Department of Community and Behavioral Health by founding Director Sheana Bull, with a proof-of-concept grant from the Colorado Advanced Industries Accelerator (AIA) program. The intent of the AIA program is to promote growth and sustainability in Colorado’s seven “advanced industries,” of which ‘technology and information’ is one, by encouraging innovation, fostering public-private partnerships, accelerating commercialization, and supporting a strong ecosystem to enhance global competitiveness. As an awardee, mHealth Impact’s goal was to create and curate high-quality mobile and digital health technologies while collaboratively addressing inequities in health outcomes through technology-based interventions. Over the 9 years since its founding, mHealth Impact has grown from a lean startup to a robust and thriving collaborative team

As the only academic entity of its kind in the region focused on mobile and digital health technologies for health promotion and behavior change, mHealth Impact works collaboratively with internal and external academic partners, community-based organizations, and industry partners ranging in size from small-scale startups to Fortune 500 members, partnering in the development, deployment and evaluation of social media programs, text message programs, mobile and web applications, and other digital health solutions across the US and internationally. Its mission is to improve health and health outcomes for individuals and communities through the collaborative creation, evaluation, and implementation of mobile and digital health technologies.
