Gabe is an MPH student in epidemiology and global health at the Colorado School of Public Health. He is passionate about arboviral diseases, specifically how policy can reduce the burden of these diseases in third world countries. Gabe is a research assistant at the Colorado Integrated Food Safety Center of Excellence (CoE), contributing to projects focused on routine enteric disease surveillance, research, and collaboration with state and national health departments.

Prior to working with CoE, he worked as an intern and lead case investigator with Mesa County Public Health and as a phlebotomist at Saint Mary’s hospital. With Mesa County, he helped lead the COVID-19 response by writing procedures on case investigations, training new investigators, and building tools used to centralize county specific investigation information. With his EMT-IV license, Gabe drew both in-patient and out-patient venous blood collections and instructed patients on how to collect other samples. He became proficient in administering nasopharyngeal swabs for flu and COVID-19 sampling and responded to level 1 and 2 traumas in the emergency department.

Gabe graduated from Colorado Mesa University with a degree in biology, concentrating in cellular and molecular processes, and his EMT-IV license through Warrantech North and Saint Anthony’s Hospital.
