Enteric Disease Interview Team

The Enteric Disease Interview Team (EDIT) works with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, other state health departments, and Local Public Health Agencies to conduct routine enteric case interviews and participate in enteric disease outbreak investigations. Made up of students from the Colorado School of Public Health, EDIT members receive intensive training and supervision from enteric disease epidemiologists.

What we do

  • Conduct telephone interviews with people in Colorado and partner states who have tested positive for an enteric disease
  • Support and lead enteric disease cluster and outbreak investigations
  • Provide peer-to-peer training on interviewing skills
  • Work on analytical and evaluation projects related to enteric disease surveillance
  • Conduct telephone interviews for other communicable diseases, such as pertussis and legionellosis

Testimonials

EDIT team in a Zoom meeting
Working with EDIT has been an exciting opportunity to apply the epidemiological principles and communication skills I've learned in school and see them in action as a public health professional!

— Alyssa Dalen

Being on EDIT introduced me to basic interviewing skills [I] needed to excel in the field of public health. I have learned how to deal with many kinds of people and situations and am thankful for all that I have learned. Working on different outbreaks... has been some of the most interesting and fun interviewing that I have been a part of.
