Lucas Medsker is a Professional Research Assistant II with the Community Epidemiology & Program Evaluation Group (CEPEG) and the Centers for Health, Work & Environment (CHWE) at the Colorado School of Public Health. His work supports community-engaged public health research through statewide survey research, epidemiologic surveillance, and program evaluation. He contributes to projects including the Colorado Tobacco Attitudes and Behaviors Survey (TABS) and the Colorado Healthy Equity Survey (CHES), where he develops analytic datasets, performs statistical programming, conducts quality assurance, and supports survey methodology and evaluation activities.
Lucas's research interests center on tobacco control, chronic disease prevention, environmental health, and health equity. His work combines epidemiologic methods, statistical analysis, and public health surveillance to generate evidence that informs policy and improves population health. He is particularly interested in leveraging data science and emerging artificial intelligence methods to strengthen public health research, surveillance, and decision-making.
Prior to joining CEPEG, Lucas served as a Clinical Research Coordinator with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and as a Senior Clinical Sciences Professional at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, coordinating multisite clinical research in physical activity and metabolic health. He earned his Master of Public Health in Epidemiology from the Colorado School of Public Health at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus.
