Abigail Harris has been an integral member of CEPEG for more than 15 years, serving in a variety of roles that reflect her expertise and dedication to public health. She began her tenure as an Evaluator and Program Manager, where she led initiatives for several statewide programs, including the Cancer, Chronic and Pulmonary Disease and Health Disparities Funded Grants Program, the State Tobacco Education and Prevention Program, and the Survey Research Operations Unit.
In her current role as Assistant Director, Abigail provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for CEPEG. She partners closely with contractors and stakeholders, fosters collaboration with both internal and external partners, and ensures responsible financial management across CEPEG operations.
Abigail’s professional background spans cancer prevention and control, research, and health promotion. She brings extensive experience in health care delivery systems, practice management, and quality improvement, supporting the development and implementation of effective public health strategies. She currently serves as a Cancer, Cardiovascular, and Pulmonary Disease (CCPD) Review Committee Member at the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE).
She holds a Master of Science in Public Health (MSPH) from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and a Bachelor of Arts from Southern Illinois University.
Outside of her professional work, Abigail is passionate about fitness and wellness. She teaches aquatic fitness classes for individuals of all ages and abilities, with a special focus on those managing chronic conditions, obesity, or beginning their fitness journey. Her tailored programs are designed to improve health outcomes, enhance quality of life, and promote overall well-being.
