Elise's public health training began in 2013 when she started her MSPH program in Social and Behavioral Interventions in the International Health Department at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. For her master's practicum, Elise served as the project manager for an HIV risk assessment study based in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire working with female sex workers and men who have sex with men. For her master’s thesis, she conducted a qualitative analysis of barriers to accessing health care among FSW in Abidjan. Before starting her doctorate program, Elise worked as a research associate for the University of Oklahoma on a handwashing promotion intervention RCT based in Sirajganj, Bangladesh.
