Our services
We support injury and violence prevention programs in the Mountain West Region (Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, Wyoming). Helping to build infrastructure for injury and violence prevention is central to our mission. We build partnerships with local, state, and tribal organizations in the region and link practitioners and researchers with each other for mutual learning.

Our faculty and staff contract with agencies to provide external evaluation of public health policies, practices, and programs to understand what’s working well and what could be improved. We have experience with quasi-experimental designs as well as mixed-method designs.
We offer:
- Needs assessments
- Formative or developmental evaluations
- Rigorous process evaluation designs
- Cost-benefit analyses
- Outcome and impact evaluation designs
We offer free one-hour consultations for injury and violence prevention practitioners in the region to discuss topics like program planning, identifying evidence-based strategies, and grant writing. During these sessions, we can help you strategize and identify opportunities to collaborate in the future.
We can connect you with Colorado School of Public Health students, as well as students from other disciplines, to work on projects such as needs assessments, literature reviews, data analysis, evaluation, and policy analysis. This is an excellent way to get low-cost assistance with projects, build your capacity, and help to train the injury prevention workforce. Many students we have connected to short-term opportunities have later been hired by the agency after graduation.
If you are seeking collaborators on specific topics not covered by our team—or in a particular geographic area or population—let us know. We will do our best to link to others with experience and interest in that area.
Our Research2Practice seminar series and ACEs and Child Maltreatment Prevention series highlight pressing issues in injury and violence prevention with a focus on translating research to practice. We can provide certificates of completion to attendees and, depending on the topic and faculty availability, we consider requests for specialized training sessions.
