Globalization has changed the way that governments and non-governmental organizations tackle challenging health issues. Global Health is an exciting field that addresses these challenges through educational and scientific expertise from a variety of disciplines.

interventions for global health problems.
Emphasizing theory and practice, this course explores how bioethics and human rights can help solve radical inequalities in global health.
Helping Babies Survive (HBS) is a suite of evidence-based, hands-on educational programs designed
to reduce neonatal mortality and improve newborn care in resource-limited settings. The goal of HBS is to build the capacity of providers to delivery high-quality, skilled services to improve neonatal health outcomes worldwide.
The Global Health and Disasters Course is
a two-week long intensive course held once a year at the CU Anschutz Medical Campus.
The first week of the course covers a broad range of global health
topics including infectious and non-communicable disease burden, global
health ethics, and innovative strategies
to improve global health equity. The second week of the course is the
Pediatrics in Disasters training, developed by the American Academy of
Pediatrics and implemented in countries all over the world. The interactive
training incorporates lectures, small group problem solving learning
exercises, technical skill sessions, and a disaster simulation exercise.
Fifty percent of the victims of man-made and natural disasters are children. This online training provides the core principles of disaster planning and response with a focus on the needs of children and adolescents. This course includes information about disaster response in sub-Saharan
Africa and the Middle East—where there has been an increase in conflict, refugees, and displaced populations—and covers the treatment of viruses such as Ebola; management of malnutrition; WHO’s Integrated
Case Management of Childhood Illness (IMCI); and more.
