Graduate Student Assistant

Hala is an MPH student in Epidemiology and Global health at the Colorado School of Public Health. She is passionate about infectious diseases, specifically how to control and eliminate them. Hala is a research assistant at the Colorado Integrated Food Safety Center of Excellence (CoE), contributing to projects focused on routine enteric disease surveillance, research, and collaboration with state and national health departments.     Prior to working with CoE, she worked as a Laboratory assistant and Phlebotomist at the Children’s Hospital of Colorado. She also participated with the Black Community Health Awareness Response Team (BCHART) as an educator.      With BCHART, Hala engaged in community outreach, completion of surveys, and dissemination of health information to increase community members access to vaccinations. With her phlebotomy certification, she processed laboratory specimens and performed in-patient venous blood collections on pediatric patients. She became proficient in communicating with a variety of populations and basic laboratory functions.     
Hala graduated from the University of Colorado Denver with a degree in Public Health, concentrating in Psychology, certificate in Health Communications, and her phlebotomy license through Phlebotomy Training Specialists.
