The Healthy Start study, led by Dana Dabelea, MD, PhD, at ColoradoSPH, follows more than 1,400 ethnically diverse pregnant women to assess the impact of intrauterine exposures on neonatal outcomes. Secondary research from this project has linked genetic traits—inherited within the womb—with the likelihood that children of obese mothers are more likely to be obese themselves.
