An American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) Grand Opportunity (GO) grant, this small randomized trial assessed the viability of electronic tools and health curricula in reducing diabetes and cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk among overweight and obese American Indians and Alaska Natives (AI/ANs) living in two urban areas, Denver and Albuquerque.
Outcome data showed promising results for the Honoring the Gift of Heart Health curriculum, with less conclusive evidence for the WiiFit™ condition. Process evaluation data indicated that participants were satisfied and motivated by the study.
